Online SafetyCritical
Moving to Other Platforms
Predators often try to move conversations to Discord, Snapchat, or other platforms where Roblox's safety measures don't apply.
Why This Matters
Once communication moves off Roblox, all safety protections are gone. Predators can send inappropriate content, groom children more aggressively, and collect personal information without detection.
Signs to Look For
- 1Asking for Discord username, Snapchat, or other social media
- 2Saying "let's chat somewhere else" or "Roblox chat is limited"
- 3Sharing links to join Discord servers or other groups
- 4Asking for phone number to "text instead"
- 5Sharing QR codes or asking kids to scan codes
What Parents Should Do
- Strict rule: Never move conversations to other platforms with online-only friends
- Teach: "If they want to chat elsewhere, they're not your friend"
- Report players who ask to move conversations
- Block anyone who persists after being told no
- Regularly ask your child about who they're playing with
How to Talk About It
Use these conversation starters to discuss this topic with your child:
- 💬Has anyone ever asked for your Discord or Snapchat? What did you say?
- 💬Do you know why we only chat on Roblox?
- 💬What would you do if someone wanted to move our chat somewhere else?
- 💬It's okay to tell me if someone is pressuring you.
